How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

Camille was a beautiful person always happy, smiling and fun. This is how I will always remember her. It is with great sadness to know she is gone but will be remembered by so many as a wonderful friend and classmate.
Marki Hawes
Camille was my oldest and one of my dearest friends. The Clarke’s moved in across the street from the Hawes family in 1959. Little did we know at the time that Camille and I would grow (kind of) old together. My sisters and I always looked up at Camille as the way we should act, dress and behave because we all thought that Camille was the perfect role model. She quickly became our chosen sister for life. After I moved back to Dade City into the family home in 2003, Camille and I resumed our sisterhood. Most weekend mornings I would be on her patio, and evenings she would be on my back porch with her Jack Daniels and Pepsi. We became “second Mama’s” to each other’s children and joyfully shared our grandchildren. Mostly we shared our laughs, sometimes our sorrows, but always our secrets, hopes and fears. We were each other’s sounding boards and we always knew we could be honest with each other. I’ve been blessed with a wonderful family and incredible friendships. I will always cherish my memories of Camille.

As a friend of Larkin’s growing up, Camille was a regular part of my life. If Larkin wasn’t at my house, I was at hers. Her voice answered the house phone when it was time for our daily chat. She was around for our sporting events and study sessions. She brought home fun gadgets. She fed us. She told us to get to sleep over and over and over again. And through it all, she was always kind and welcoming. She was always a warm, sweet person that felt like a second mother. I will miss her smile, her accent, and the way she would say, “Oh, you girls!”

Camille – I only knew you a short while, but you left a mark of joy, laughter and light that will remain with me always. “There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone the light remains” – Unknown

I was sadden to hear of Camille’s passing. There are many wonderful memories I have in knowing her during our PHS years. She was beautiful inside and out.

She was a beautiful and sweet person, inside and out. I am better off for having known her in our high school years.
